Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy today said that adequate funds would be released for the construction of 12,000 toilets in slum areas, community halls and individual houses each in the city to improve its sanitation.
"The GHMC will prioritize sanitation and has already planned to construct 12,000 toilets each in slum areas and other places across the city during 2016. Each toilet will cost Rs. 12,000, of which, Rs. 8,000 will be borne by the GHMC and Rs. 4,000 by the Centre," Reddy said.
The Commissioner also stated that construction of community toilets and toilets in slum areas would get the first priority, and other places would be given the second priority.
