The City Traffic Police is geared up to enforce the Supreme Court orders prohibiting tinted glasses of four wheelers from Thursday.
As part of the special drive, the Hyderabad Traffic Police will not only ?challan? offenders? vehicles, but also remove the tint on glasses found violating the rule.
In the first few weeks of its implementation, motorists will be penalised Rs. 500. However, the challan might be increased if vehicle owners are found to commit the offence again.
The drive is being enforced in two phases. While common vehicles will be covered in the first phase, vehicles being used by persons under the VVIP category, with Z and Z Plus security, will be covered as per the norms specified under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Letters are also being sent to the General Administrative Department Secretary, the High Court Registrar and Heads of Departments of both state and Central government organisations to ensure that their vehicles have tinted glasses as per the norms.
The traffic police are also planning to procure luxometers to accurately know the VLT of the tint used by the motorists.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) C V Anand said that he had warned dealers of car accessories and car d?cor shops in Hyderabad and Secunderabad of stern action if they affix external film on car safety glasses.
He reiterated that the Supreme Court prohibits the use of black film of any percentage upon the safety glass, front and rear windscreens and side glasses of all motor vehicles in the country. Therefore, non-compliance of these orders will be the contempt of the Supreme Court, he said. (INN)

I had to face a situation with traffic police on my way from Sangeeth theater towards Rail Nilayam road. Recently i.e., on 19/12/2012 @ time 16:10 while I was coming back with family from a function, a Traffic Police named stopped my car and he says that my car has tinted glass and that will be fined. But my car has tinted glass as per the norms of RTA. When I say I wanted to validate with the respective authority and I will pay the money. He very rudely says "I will not allow you to go with car until unless you pay the amount". As I was with the family I had to pay the amount then only he allowed me to move , this is disgusting. There is no law that I have to pay on the spot. As per the law and also the Challan slip I can see that one can pay penalty at Control Room or On the Spot or at e-Seva Center or attend the court, but not bothered about the rules. And the funniest thing is, this cop doesn't know rules. He fined me saying I am the god of rules and also questioning about the credibility of the news papers and he says I don't have right to say that what ever paper conveys messages about the information on rules which is not a law. This is ridiculous on part of the as the Traffic police he is harassing people. I am even looking to lodge a complaint against him.
While we as citizens understand from your point of view that every individual may not react the sameway and some might people may try to show thei power to the poor policeman doing his duty, its very essetial for the police man also to know the exact rules before being so hard on commutter. The Rule says VLT of 50 % and above can be used, its is printed on the cars screen but the Police man is more keen on writing the Challan rather than looking at . Agreed that all dark tints are to be removed , but the implimenters should also see the pros and cons rather than saying we are allmighty and can do the way we want.....Hope to see some betterment.
While we appreciate the effort being put in by the Hyderabad Police commissioner at their team to impliment the SUpreme court rule of Tineted Glass. As our freinds rights said where are the meters to check , why have they not thought about. Why is that a common man is the scapegoat for all these rules. Police departments say, we are freinds to public please cooperate and this what they do on the name of cooperation. Commissioner sir, every individual will surely understand if things are done the right way raher than showing that Police can do anything they want. Very unfortuante way of handling things.
these people (traffic police) does not have the machines to determine how much glass is covered with tint. How can they say with their naked eye that you have violated tint norms. what the bloody hell is happenning? traffic police are harassing people like anything with their senseless arguments. do we have any authority where we can lodge complaint against them??? why don't you procure machines before you start implementing these things. No one bothers about common people's concerns in india.
This is absolutely rediculous.Penalising common man for acts of crime done by few people is not at all justifiable. We get a four wheeler for our privacy and comfort. For example What if a mother want to feed an infant when they are out.If the Glasses are tinted wont they have privacy.Screw The Z class Privacy .Its all for bloody corrupt politicians and beurocrats.
Another means of Encouraging corruption. And looting public
When Police r planning to get the luxometers to check the tint of the glass, it means some color is allowed on the glasses. Without getting them , how can Police challan the public in the guise of SC judgment. Is it not arbitrary. Can Sri CV Anand respond
