DGP Stresses Need For Traffic Awareness In City
DGP B Prasada Rao pointed out that the increase in traffic challans from Rs. 200 to Rs. 1,000 has had no major impact on the violation of rules.

Director General of Police B Prasada Rao has stressed the need for awareness of traffic rules among road users in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Addressing a programme held in connection with the 25th National Road Safety Week here on Monday, the DGP said that Hyderabad is a cosmopolitan city. "However, it still lacks a proper traffic sense," he said.
He expressed concern over the violation of traffic rules and said that all road users should be aware of the rules and follow them.
He also advised the parents to ensure that their children do not indulge in rash driving.
He said that several precious lives could be saved if everyone follows traffic rules.
The DGP also released a short film on traffic regulations on this occasion. He welcomed the appointment of former cricketer V V S Laxman as the brand ambassador of Hyderabad Traffic Police.
Prasad said that the growing pollution is badly affecting the health of the traffic policemen in the city.
Therefore, he stated that efforts should be made to reduce the pollution on city roads.
He also pointed out that the increase in traffic challans from Rs. 200 to Rs. 1,000 had no major impact on the violation of rules.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said that traffic management has become the most difficult job for city police.
He said that traffic conditions in the city could be improved by creating proper awareness about them.
Additional Commission (traffic) Amit Garg mentioned that so far the Hyderabad Traffic Police managed to create awareness among 80,000 students of nearly 4,000 schools besides educating about 2,000 RTC drivers.
He said that awareness drives would continue in future.
Ex-cricketer V V S Laxman thanked the Hyderabad Traffic Police for appointing him as their brand ambassador.
He said that he would play an active role in creating traffic awareness among the masses in the city.
He also said that proper driving by all could save several precious lives being lost on the city's roads.
