Telangana Animal Husbandry and Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today participated in a ration card distribution program in Hyderabad.
On the occasion, Yadav stated that the TRS government was committed to providing ration cards to all the eligible beneficiaries in Telangana to enable them to buy basic amenities at subsidised prices.
"There are 5,85,756 ration card holders in Hyderabad. This benefits 21,90,034 persons through the PDS system. Another 56,064 ration cards are being distributed now to cater to the needs of the poor in the district. The new cards will help 2.25 lakh more people. This is yet another instance of our government's commitment to welfare. We are spending Rs 45,000 crore on a variety of support schemes," he said.
The minister added that the new card holders would be able to get their rations at subsidised shops from August itself.
Elaborating on the TRS regime's other welfare programs, he claimed, "Scores of people are getting help through ration cards, our many pension schemes, and other programs like free housing in the state. The credit for such a comprehensive welfare system goes to the vision of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Under his guidance, we are determined to avoid problems like food shortage among the poor. We also offer a host of basic facilities to all those in need."
MLA Kaleru Venkatesh, MLC Surabhi Vani Devi, and Hyderabad Deputy Mayor Srilatha Reddy were among those present for the program.
