TRS Leaders Offer Prayers At Yellamma Temple

Telangana Environment and Forests Minister A Indrakaran Reddy, Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav, and Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi today offered prayers at the Balkampet Yellamma temple located in Hyderabad's Ameerpet area.

The ministers offered silk clothes to the presiding deity of the temple on the occasion, and prayed for the well being of the people of the state.

While there, they also participated in some special pujas after which the temple priests blessed them.

The ministers had gone to the temple to take part in the famed Balkampet Yellamma Kalyanam that was performed at the temple today.

A large number of devotees also visited the temple on the occasion. The area wore a festive look.

The state government had already made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the festivities. Some days ago, Srinivas Yadav had held a meeting to discuss the steps to be taken in preparation of the kalyanam ceremony. He had told the officials of the roads and buildings department to set up barricades around the shrine to prevent traffic congestion and has asked GHMC Zonal Commissioner Pravinya to immediately repair the roads leading to the temple.

This year's celebration is made even more special as last year, the usually grand festivities had been rather restricted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
