Rs 10,000 Aid Declared For Each Rain-Affected Family

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today announced immediate help to the people living in the low-lying areas in Hyderabad facing problems due to the heavy rains and flash floods.
The CM announced that the government would extend Rs 10,000 as immediate relief to each poor household affected by the floods.
"Hyderabad has experienced its worst rains in the last 100 years. Due to the heavy rains and flash floods, people, especially the poor who live in slums in low-lying area, have suffered a lot. It is the primary responsibility of the government to help them. Hence we have decided to extend Rs 10,000 to each affected household of the poor in the low-lying areas," the CM said.
He instructed the Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal Collectors to send teams out to start distributing the amount from Tuesday morning itself.
The CM also announced that the owners of all houses which were totally damaged in the rains and floods would be given an assistance of Rs 1 lakh each, and that the owners of partially damaged houses would be given Rs 50,000 each.
Based on the instructions given by the CM, the finance department released Rs 550 crore to the Municipal Administration department.
The CM said that the government was ready to extend the help to any number of the poor, even if their number was in lakhs.
KCR also instructed the officials to repair and restore all the damaged roads and other infrastructure facilities on a war footing, and ensure that normalcy returned at the earliest.
He said that all the ministers, MLAs and corporators, and the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor of Hyderabad should treat helping the poor as their responsibility and actively participate in the relief operations.
