50,668 Penalised For Littering On Railway Premises
Of the 50,668 offenders, 10,486 were booked in Secunderabad, 4,243 in Hyderabad, 16,458 in Vijayawada, 9,751 in Guntakal, 5,215 in Guntur and 4,515 in Nanded Divisions.

As per the directions of South Central Railway general manager P K Srivastava, the officials have intensified checks against littering, spitting etc. at railway premises.
During the first 9 months of the current financial year, i. e., April to December, 2013, 50,668 persons were reportedly booked for committing the offence of littering, spitting etc., on railway premises and an amount of Rs. 1.02 crore was realized from them towards penalty.
Out of the 50,668 offenders, 10,486 were apprehended in Secunderabad Division, 4,243 in Hyderabad Division, 16,458 in Vijayawada Division, 9,751 in Guntakal Division, 5,215 in Guntur Division and 4,515 in Nanded Division.
With a view to ensure hygiene & cleanliness in railway premises and to provide a pleasant ambience to the passengers, SCR has intensified the enforcement of provisions of Indian Railways (Penalties for Activities Affecting Cleanliness at Railway Premises) Rules-2012.
The rules stipulate penalties of up to Rs. 500 on any person / passenger found either littering or spitting or urinating or defecating or pasting posters or dumping garbage on railway premises such as railway stations, railway land etc. (INN)
