Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday asked the State government how it had declined permission to his party to hold its proposed "Tiranga Yatra: Save Nation, Save Constitution" rally in the city tomorrow, but had given permission to the RSS to hold a massive rally in the city.
Addressing mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan today, the TPCC chief slammed the State government for refusing permission for the rally. He said that Telangana had not the Indian Police Service but a Kalvakuntla Police Service.
He called upon the party workers to hoist the party flag on Saturday at all the district party headquarters to celebrate the 135th foundation day of the party. Indirectly hinting that the rally would happen anyway, he also asked the party workers to then reach Gandhi Bhavan to take part in the rally.
Senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao wondered at the police declining permission for the rally citing traffic problems. He said that his party had already held such rallies across the country many times. He also asked the CM how he allowed his ally the MIM to hold a public meeting at Nizamabad despite the election code in place.
He made it clear that the rally would indeed happen, and that it would conclude at the Dr Ambedkar statue at Liberty crossroads as planned.
For good measure, he also alleged that KCR hated Dr Ambedkar.
CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka and Hyderabad City Congress president M Anjan Kumar Yadav were also present.
