Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday announced that the Congress would take out its proposed "Save India, Save Constitution" rally from Gandhi Bhavan to the Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund on the occasion of its Formation Day on December 28.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan after a TPCC core committee meeting, Reddy said that the Hyderabad police was yet to give permission for the rally.
On a different note, Reddy asserted that the Congress would never share a platform with the TRS or the BJP on any issue. Calling the TRS an opportunistic party, he said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had remained a mute spectator when large scale protests were going on against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC), since it suited him to befriend the BJP. He alleged that TRS had been a supporter of the BJP right from the beginning - it had supported demonetization, GST, Ram Nath Kovind with his RSS background for President instead of Meira Kumar who had supported statehood for Telangana, the removal of Article 370, the Triple Talaq Act and the NIA Act - and was even today backing the BJP's decision by not speaking against the NRC.
The Congress however always put the country's interests above its own, which put it at the opposite end of the ideological spectrum from the TRS, he claimed.
