Mayor Accepts Green Challenge, Plants Sapling

On the occasion of TRS MP J Santosh Kumar's birthday, GHMC Mayor Dr Bonthu Rammohan today accepted the Green Challenge and planted a sapling in Maitri Nagar.

The Mayor also distributed two cheques of Rs 25,000 each from Nenu Saitham organization founder Kadambari Kiran to the families of two artistes who were in deep trouble.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rammohan said that celebrating one's birthday in a grand manner was not what was great, and that performing some social activity like distributing alms to poor people who are in dire need was what made a birthday special and memorable.

He also that said instead of sending greetings to loved ones on birthdays, people should plant saplings which gave oxygen and enabled healthy life, and which would also be a gift to future generations and the environment.

He exhorted people to emulate Santosh Kumar for his efforts to develop greenery in the State.

He also distributed blankets and mosquito nets to workers and inaugurated a health camp.
