A massive fire accident that took place at a scrap factory in Boiguda in Secunderabad killed 11 persons.
The accident took place in the early hours of Wednesday.
All the victims belonged to Bihar.
According to the people living nearby, 12 persons were sleeping in the Boiguda-based IDH factory, when a fire started due to an electric short circuit.
Of the 12 persons, one (Prem, 25 years) escaped the accident by jumping off a window of the factory, and the remaining 11 died on the spot as the flames engulfed them all.
The authorities concerned rushed eight fire extinguishers to the accident spot and brought the flames under control. They also removed the bodies of the victims after dousing the flames. The bodies were taken to Gandhi Hospital mortuary.
The victims all belonged to Azampura of Chapra district of Bihar. They have been identified as Sikander (40), Bittu Kumar Ram (20), Satyender Kumar (30), Chettilal Ram (28), Damodar (27), Sintu Kumar (27), Durga Ram (35), Rakesh (25), Deepak Kumar Ram (26), Ankaj (26) and Daroga Kumar (35).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed condolences over the deaths.
The PM announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs. 2 lakh to the family members of each of the victims, while the Chief Minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh each.
Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav visited the accident spot and interacted with the officials present at the spot. Speaking to media persons on the occasion, he announced that the state government had ordered an inquiry into the issue, and that the reasons behind the accident would come to fore in the inquiry.
He also expressed his condolences over the accident and said that the state government would extend all possible cooperation to the family members of the victims.
TPCC president Revanth Reddy and BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar also expressed their shock over the tragic accident.
