Hyderabad | 25th February 2025
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today announced that Hyderabad had been recognized as India's leading city for electric vehicles (EVs).

Speaking at the inauguration of the BioAsia 2025 conference at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, he claimed that the city had a remarkable achievement in recording the highest EV sales nationwide.

"Hyderabad's progressive policies and commitment to sustainable transportation have positioned us at the forefront of India's EV revolution," Reddy said.

He also revealed the State government's ambitious plan to introduce 3,000 electric buses into the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) fleet in the near future, significantly enhancing eco-friendly public transportation.

"It's not just EVs, either. Telangana ranks first in India in attracting both domestic and international investments. The State also boasts the lowest inflation rate and the highest rate of job creation," he added.

The CM took the opportunity to also outline the State government's vision to transform Telangana into a trillion-dollar economy. He said that the government had many key initiatives to boost the economy including the developing "Future City" and "AI City" projects in Hyderabad, and creating a manufacturing hub between the Outer Ring Road and the Regional Ring Road. He called the manufacturing hub a strategic move designed to cater to the global "China Plus One" strategy, attracting investments and diversifying manufacturing bases.

Speaking about the conference itself, Reddy said that BioAsia played an important role in establishing Hyderabad a global hub for life sciences, drawing participants from across the nation and around the world. "The conference guides the international community in shaping the future of the healthcare sector along a developmental path," he said.

The BioAsia 2025 conference, running from February 25 to 26 at HICC, has attracted global leaders from the life sciences and healthcare sectors. The event serves as a platform for discussing transformative innovations and fostering collaborations aimed at revolutionizing healthcare delivery worldwide. This year's theme, "Catalysts of Change: Expanding Global Healthcare Frontiers", highlights the conference's focus on pioneering advancements and cross-border partnerships. The conference features an impressive lineup of speakers, including Dr Christopher Boerner, CEO of Bristol Myers Squibb; David Ricks, CEO of Eli Lilly and Company; and Geoff Martha, Chairman and CEO of Medtronic.
