Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat today said that elaborate security arrangements had been made for Friday's T20 international cricket match between India and West Indies at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Uppal.
Speaking to mediapersons along with HCA president Mohammad Azharuddin, Bhagwat said that some 40,000 cricket fans were expected to watch the match, and that the stadium was therefore under top security cover.
Bhagwat said that 1,800 security personnel, including OCTOPUS, sniffer dogs, traffic police personnel, platoons of armed forces, special branch teams, SHE teams, CCS teams, special operations teams and mounted police, had been deployed as part of the bandobust arrangements at the stadium.
There would also be constant vigil with CC cameras, and anyone planning mischief would face dire consequences, he said.
He also said that prohibitory orders had been issued for the entire city on account of Black Day on December 6, and so the security measures would be even more strigent.
Parking arrangements had also been made for the convenience of cricket fans, he said.
He added that Metro rail services would be available till the match was over at 1 am on Saturday.
