HMDA authorities today cracked the whip against land sharks who had created fake documents to encroach upon 50 acres of the 181 acres of government lands located under the Shamshabad municipality limits.
The authorities launched "Operation Shamshabad" with the support of Cyberabad police from 3 am to 8 am today, and removed the encroachments.
Around 100 officials of various departments took part in the operation.
The officials blocked the roads on Monday night to carry out the operation, and removed all the encroachments from 3 am to 8 am of Tuesday.
According to the authorities, the encroachers tried to take possession of the lands by citing fake survey numbers.
The officials have now decided to fence the entire piece of land following the success of the Operation Shamshabad.
The HMDA originally took possession of the 181 acres of land in Shamshabad in the year 1990 for the establishment of a truck terminal. The authority established a nursery in 20 acres of the total land. It allotted two acres for the establishment of a vegetable and non-vegetable market for the convenience of the local people as per the orders of the State government. It also allotted 30 guntas of land for the establishment of the Shamshabad municipality office.
