Security has been spruced up around the state Secretariat, as part of the safety measures being taken in view of frequent hoax bomb calls.
Around 50 Special Protection Force (SPF) personnel have been deployed in the Secretariat premises, and undercover police officials are keeping constant vigilance on visitors. Besides these, every block in the Secretariat will have a control room to monitor the visitors.
The additional SPF personnel patrolling around the blocks bear a testimony to the enhanced security measures.
A local cable TV cameraman came under the scanner of the vigilance officials, and was thoroughly interrogated before he was set free.
"I wanted to make a move as I had another press conference to attend, but what made the security personnel notice me was my attempt to hurry back to the parking lot. They checked my identity card and conducted physical searches in spite of my protests that I was a regular in the Secretariat," he complained.
