HC Directs TOA To Permit Jayesh Ranjan To Contest
In a relief to the IAS officer and Principal Secretary, the Telangana High Court directed the Telangana Olympic Association to let him contest for the post of president.
In a relief to senior IAS officer and Principal Secretary (IT) Jayesh Ranjan, the Telangana High Court on Friday directed the authorities of the Telangana Olympic Association (TOA) to permit the officer to contest for the post of president of the assocation in the election to be held on February 9.
The High Court passed the order while dealing with a petition filed by the officer challenging the rejection of his nomination for the post by the election officer of the association.
In his petition, he urged the court to declare the order of the election officer to reject his nomination papers as illegal, arbitrary, and contrary to the permission granted to him by the Special Chief Secretary, Department of Sports, to contest in the elections.
The HC faulted the decision of the election officer and told him to approve the nomination of the petitioner as he had already obtained permission from the Chief Secretary of the department concerned.
The order of the HC has paved the way for Ranjan to contest the election and compete with another aspirant for the post, Ranga Rao, on Sunday.
