The Telangana High Court today adjourned a quash petition filed by state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar challenging the remand order of a magistrate court from Warangal, to the 10th of this month.
A division bench of the High Court headed by Justice Ujjal Bhuyyan also asked the state police to file its counter by the next date of hearing.
The bench passed the orders while hearing a lunch motion petition filed by BJP leaders.
The court also allowed Sanjay to file his bail petition before a district court today, before adjourning the matter.
During the course of arguments, the counsel for Sanjay told the High Court that the police had made Sanjay travel 300 km without giving any reasons for his arrest.
The court asked the counsel for the State government what allegations Sanjay was facing in the case. It said that that Sanjay had only circulated the question paper and did not leak it.
The Advocate General of the State told the HC that Sanjay was the main conspirator in the paper leak. Sanjay and the accused number 2 Prashanth had spoken with each other many times over the phone in the preceding days, the AG alleged, and said that the Karimnagar MP had not handed over his phone to the police so far, which was a tell-tale sign of his culpability.
Meanwhile, at the time of this article being published, Sanjay's bail hearing in a Warangal court was still on.
