The Hyderabad High Court today adjourned to Friday the hearing on the bail petition of Telangana TDP legislator Revanth Reddy in the note-for-vote case.
The court adjourned the hearing after the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana sought more time to file an additional counter to the bail plea along with reports from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
The bail petitions of the two other accused in the case, Sebastian Harry and Uday Simha, will also be taken up for hearing on Friday.
The ACB, in its counter, opposed the bail petitions on the ground that bail at this stage could hamper the investigations into the case as the accused might try to influence the witnesses and tamper with the evidence.
The ACB also informed the court that the fourth accused Jerusalem Mathaiah was still absconding and hiding in neighboring Andhra Pradesh.
The court was told that the arrest and questioning of Mathaiah could help the ACB unravel the case.
Meanwhile, Mathaiah's petition to delete his name from the First Information Report (FIR) was also adjourned, to Thursday.
Revanth Reddy, deputy leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the Telangana State Assembly, was arrested by ACB sleuths on May 31 when he was allegedly trying to give a Rs 50 lakh bribe to nominated legislator Elvis Stephenson to induce him to vote in favour of the TDP candidate in the Telangana MLC elections.
