HCA To Focus On Rural Cricket Development In Telangana

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) today, which was expected to be dramatic, ended peacefully without any fuss or acrimony.
In the 86th AGM held under the chairmanship of HCA President Arshanapally Jagan Mohan Rao, many important decisions were taken for the development of cricket in Telangana.
Jagan Mohan Rao managed to bring all the HCA members together irrespective of the opposition category, with former Team India cricketers Mohammad Azharuddin, Shivlal Yadav and Arshad Ayub, former HCA presidents G Vinod and Anil, senior members John Manoj, V Hanumantha Rao, Chamundeswarnath, Sesh Narayan, Amarnath, Vanka Prathap and Agam Rao, and others attending and giving their suggestions and advice to the new apex council.
The meeting took a decision to constitute a District Cricket Development Committee to promote the development of cricket in all the districts of Telangana, and to build mini stadiums in each of the old joint districts.
It was also decided to set up a cricket excellence academy of international standards with boarding facility for 250 people in the Uppal stadium. A separate academy for women with 100 students was also allocated as part of that.
The AGM also decided that four satellite academies would be set up within the GHMC radius.
A special committee was also set up for the welfare of women cricketers. Further, a proposal to build an international stadium in the Hyderabad premises at a cost of Rs 100 crore was also made in the AGM.
It was also decided that the Apex Council would work to release the pending funds from the BCCI to the HCA as soon as possible.
The meeting also decided to start the process of giving recognition to the new district cricket associations soon.
