Former Congress MP and former Indian cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin today slammed Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president G Vivekananda for trying to name the Telangana Premier Cricket League (TPL) after his (Vivek's) father late G Venkataswamy, and for transforming the TPL into a household affair.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Azhar also made allegations of corruption against the HCA president claiming that the latter had purchased the TPL for a paltry sum of Rs 50 lakhs while the same league had been sold for several crores of rupees in the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
He further alleged that the HCA selectors were indulging in corrupt practices in the selection of players for various teams of the HCA resulting in injustice being meted out to talented players from the state.
Azharuddin also said that he would participate in the 2019 general elections as a star campaigner for the Congress. He also rubbished rumours that he would contest against MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi in 2019.
