Minister T Harish Rao has launched a scathing attack on the Congress for "opposing the Rythu Bandhu disbursals".
Speaking at a press conference at the BRS headquarters Telangana Bhavan, Rao said that the Congress had exposed its true colours by lodging a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) seeking stoppage of the Rythu Bandhu disbursals, and had once again proved itself as an anti-farmer party.
"Rythu Bandhu is not a new scheme, and was not designed for the elections. About 69 lakh farmers in Telangana are benefiting from the scheme, and about Rs 75,000 crore have so far credited into the accounts of farmers," Rao claimed.
The minister said that the Congress leaders were scared that the farmers would not cast their votes for the Congress in the upcoming Assembly elections, and so had catched a conspiracy against the farmers and lodged the complaint with the ECI opposing the implementation of the scheme.
He added that the Congress government in Karnataka had failed to fulfill its electoral promises, and that people from Karnataka were coming to the Kodangal and Gadwal areas and staging protests against the party demanding adequate power supply to all segments.
He warned that the Rythu Bandhu scheme would be stopped and power would not be supplied for more than three hours in Telangana if the Congress was voted to power.
Rao said that the entire farming community in Telangana was with the BRS and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao despite the Congress creating troubles, and asked the farmers to teach a fitting lesson to the Congress by defeating it in the upcoming Assembly elections.
