Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy has announced that Street No. 8, Habsiguda, will henceforth be called Captain Veera Raja Reddy Marg, after the martyr.
The decision to name the street after the war hero was taken at the Standing Committee meeting held at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation office on Wednesday.
Rapolu Veera Raja Reddy (26) was killed in a grenade attack by militants in Jammu and Kashmir during Operation Parakram on July 31, 2002. He had begun his army career by joining the National Defence Academy in 1994.
He was commissioned into the 69 Field Regiment of the Artillery Division, and later promoted as the commander of the Ghatak Platoon.
Captain Raja Reddy was a resident of Street No. 8, Ramanthapur.
