Gutha Files Nomination For Council Chairman Post

TRS MLC Gutha Sukhendar Reddy today filed his nomination papers for the post of Chairman of the Telangana Legislative Council.

He submitted his papers in the office of the Legislature Secretary.

He was accompanied by ministers Vemula Prashanth Reddy, G Jagadish Reddy, Mohammad Mahmood Ali, Satyavathi Rathod and Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Government Whips M S Prabhakar Rao and Gongidi Sunitha, Rythu Bandhu Samithi chairman Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, TRS MPs, MLCs and MLAs, who extended their support and congratulated him.

Sukhendar Reddy expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for nominating him for the Chairman's post for the second time. He also profusely thanked the members of all the parties for unanimously re-electing him. He assured the members that he would strive to function as Chairman impartially and in a dignified manner as before.

Reddy was elected to the Legislative Council for second time, from the MLAs' quota, recently. He was sworn in as Council Chairman on September 11, 2019, for the first time, and continued in the post till June 2021. Upon expiry of his term then, MLC Bhoopal Reddy was appointed as pro tem Chairman in his place. Currently, AIMIM MLC Syed Amin-ul-Hasan Jafri is pro tem Chairman.

Sukhender Reddy was also elected as a Member of Parliament for the Nalgonda constituency thrice.
