Telangana Governor Greets Women On Occasion Of Bathukamma
Tamilisai Soundararajan today extended greetings to all the women of Telangana on the auspicious occasion of the commencement of the Bathukamma celebrations.
Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan today extended greetings to all the women of Telangana on the auspicious occasion of the commencement of the Bathukamma celebrations.
The Governor said that Bathukamma was a very special festival associated with Mother Nature, and was essentially a celebration of life by the women of the State.
The colourful seasonal wild flowers used to prepare the idols of Bathukamma also had medicinal properties to cleanse the water bodies filled to the brim with the copious rains during the season, she said.
Bathukamma also marked the re-unions of families and the visits of the daughters to their soil to celebrate the nine-day-long festival, she added.
"Bathukamma is a real tribute to the native Telangana culture and traditions. Women offer prayers to goddess Gauri (goddess Parvathi) in the form of Bathukamma. I will also celebrate Bathukamma with women journalists, doctors and artistes, and many other women from different walks of life, on September 25, and with the Raj Bhavan Pariwar women on September 26 at Raj Bhavan," Soundararajan said.
"I wish the people of Telangana a happy and joyous Bathukamma festival," she added.
