Governor System Plumbing New Depths, Alleges KCR
The Telangana CM lambasted the Governor system in the country, saying that it had hit new lows by indulging in various tactics against the elected governments.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today lambasted the Governor system in the country, saying that it had hit new lows by indulging in various tactics against the elected governments.
The CM's remarks assume significance following the worsening relations between Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and the TRS government.
Addressing the party plenary, KCR alleged that even though the Maharashtra government had unanimously passed a resolution for the nomination of 12 persons to the Legislative Council, the Governor concerned had kept the file pending and didn't give his consent.
Similar fights were going on between the respective State governments and Governors in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, he said.
KCR said that even the legendary NTR had been ousted by then Governor Ram Lal in a coup in August 1984, and managed to return to power a month later with huge public support.
The country needed the emergence of new political force for fix these issues, and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi was ready to offer support in this regard, KCR said.
