Governor Reviews Welfare, Development Of Telangana

Governor E S L Narasimhan spoke about the various programs and schemes taken up by the Telangana government for the welfare of its people.
Hyderabad | 26th January 2017
In his address to the State, Governor E S L Narasimhan spoke about the various programs and schemes taken up by the Telangana government for the welfare of its people.

He referred to the creation of the 21 new districts and called it an effort at transparency in and ease of administration. He also referred to irrigation projects aimed at utilizing Godavari and Krishna waters to irrigate one crore acres of agricultural land in the State.

"The innovative measure called Mission Kakatiya, aimed at improving replenishing water bodies, will help the farming community and make their lives economically more meaningful. The dream project Mission Bhagiratha, at a cost of nearly Rs. 42,000 crores, will provide safe drinking water through taps to every household in the State and cover 25,000 rural habitations by the end of 2018. The significant progress achieved in the power sector through short-, medium- and long-term measures will overcome the power crisis Telangana faces. And Haritha Haram, aimed at increasing the State's green cover from the present 25% to 33%, will make the State India's first green corridor.

Narasimhan further said that the government aimed at providing justice to all sections of the Society so that they could live with dignity and self-respect. He explained the Aasara pension scheme for different sections, the double bedroom housing scheme for the poor, and Kalyana Laxmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes.

He also mentioned several initiatives being taken up by the State for SCs, STs, BCs, minorities, and other sections of Society - residential schools, reservation to STs and Muslims, development of temples, welfare of army personnel, and others.
