Telangana To Be Seed Bowl: Governor At R-Day Ceremony

Unfurling the national flag to mark the official 70th Republic Day ceremony at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, Telangana Governor E S L Narasimhan (who also doubles up as the AP Governor) on Saturday poured encomiums on the state's government and its CM.
Narasimhan said that Telangana had achieved significant growth in just four-and-a-half years after its formation, and praised all the government's schemes. Speaking specifically of Mission Kakatiya and all the irrigation projects, he said that the infant state was expected to become the "seed bowl" of India soon with abundant waters in its lakes and completion of all its irrigation projects soon.
He also made special mentions of the Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bheema schemes which he said were being replicated by several others states in the country and were appreciated even by the UNO.
Claiming that the state was witnessing rapid growth in all sectors under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, he said that welfare too was being paid utmost attention to to ensure that the growth was inclusive - Telangana was implementing welfare schemes costing a whopping Rs 40,000 crore, he said, and had also reduced the age limit for old-age pensions to 57 years besides doubling the pension amounts for various beneficiaries.
