Government To Provide Remunerative Price For Crops: Thummala

Minister for Agriculture Thummala Nageswara Rao today said that the State government was taking all possible measures to provide proper remunerative prices for all crops being produced by the farmers in Telangana, and urged the union government to take the initiative for formulating policies in this regard.

He also expressed concern over the banning of rice exports, and said that the ban would have a severe impact on prices.

Rao was speaking at an event to release a brochure related to the 2024 Global Rice Summit, which is scheduled to be held from June 4 to 6 in Hyderabad.

The minister said the summit would bring all rice stakeholders, including farmers, researchers, hybrid rice seed companies, traders and others, together to discuss the current scientific breakthroughs in rice science, the status of the hybrid rice industry, and the domestic and international market outlook.

The summit would also showcase the diversity and quality of Indian rice to international buyers, he added.
