In view of heavy rain forecasts for regions across Telangana, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today directed the concerned officials to remain vigilant and ensure that crop-procurement operations proceeded smoothly, especially for paddy, cotton and maize.
According to IMD predictions, certain districts are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain over the next 24-48 hours, which could impact operations in open-air procurement yards and rural transport routes.
The CM said that procurement centres needed to operate without disruption or loss to farmers. All departments have been asked to secure storage facilities, protect harvested produce and maintain logistics in the face of expected rainfall.
The CM's office has called for real-time monitoring of rainfall data, coordination between the irrigation, civil supplies, agriculture and disaster management departments, and immediate action in flood- or water-logging-prone zones. Officials have also been instructed to keep farmers informed and adjust procurement schedules or yard arrangements if necessary.
Following the CM's instructions, Irrigation & Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao convened a video-conference with district Collectors and senior officials to review preparedness and coordinate measures.
