Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders, on Friday, alleged that the State government had forgotten to implement the welfare schemes taken up for the benefit of the poor and the downtrodden.
Talking to media persons, TDP MLAs Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and Seethakka alleged that the government had totally failed in implementation of welfare measures taken up by former chief minister, the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, for the benefit of the downtrodden.
The TDP leaders accused the Congress leaders of being focussed only on the Odarpu yatra of Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy and the Telangana statehood issue.
The members wondered who would bring around development in the State if the government concentrated only on Odarpu yatra and Telangana issue.
The TDP leaders further alleged that the funds allotted for the welfare schemes and students' hostels were being diverted for other schemes.
The opposition leaders said that the funds allotted to Dalits' welfare were used for construction of roads in Pulivendula in YSR district and demanded explanation from the government regarding its silence on the diversion of the funds allotted to SC/STs.
The TDP leaders also questioned why the Governor ESL Narasimhan had become a mute spectator when the Rs. 8,000 crore funds released under sub-plan were being diverted to other works.
