Government Closed GO Website Due To Fear: Congress
The Party alleged that the government had closed the website worried that people would approach the courts if there were inadequacies/discrepancies in the GOs.
Finding fault with the TRS government for closing the GO website, Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy alleged that the government had closed the website worried that people would approach the courts if there were discrepancies/inadequacies in the GOs.
Speaking at the Assembly media point on Monday, Reddy said that in a democracy the people should know the details of the GOs. He pointed out that some people had approached the courts upon perusing the GOs issued in connection with IAS officer Smitha Sabharwal's court case and the change in name of NTR Stadium to Kalabharathi Bhavan, and said that these acts must have led to the government closing down the website.
He also asked the State Election Commission to officially give the details of the votes polled by all the contestants in the recent GHMC elections. He said that the Congress was approaching the courts, and needed the vote details, but Telangana SEC Commissioner Nagi Reddy was threatening the officials that he would issue a show-cause notice if any of them gave the vote details to any of the candidates who contested in the GHMC elections.
Shashidhar Reddy said that the SEC was obligated to provide the votes' details suo moto as per RTI Section 4.
