Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday lashed out at the TRS government for showering sops on Hyderabad's citizens all of a sudden to derive political benefit in the upcoming elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, in utter violation of the election code of conduct.
The TPCC chief also alleged that the ruling Party was utilizing government buildings for election publicity.
He disclosed that his Party had already lodged a complaint with the Election Commission in this regard, and would lodge another complaint soon.
Speaking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan along with party working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, vice-president Nagaiah and Congress NRI Cell chairman Vinod, Reddy also accused the ruling Party of cheating the people by making a string of promises keeping the GHMC elections in view.
He also asked the TRS why it was not fulfilling its pre-poll promise of providing 12% reservation to Muslims. Alleging that the TRS government was not bothering to implement reservations even as it released a recruitment notification for filling vacant posts and admissions were going on in educational institutions, the TPCC chief asked the MIM why it was remaining tightlipped on this issue.
Discussing the allocation of tickets for the GHMC elections, Reddy said that Party tickets would be given to candidates as per the opinion of the Party activists at grass-root level.
Disclosing that electioneering would begin from Sunday, the TPCC president said that Party candidates would be declared four or five days after the announcement of the GHMC poll schedule. He also announced that priority in allotment of tickets would be to Andhra settlers and Muslims in areas dominated by them.
He also said that his Party was ready to align with the like-minded political parties for the GHMC elections.
