Honorary president of the Telangana Goshala Federation Mahesh Aggarwal today demanded that the DGP set up check-posts at all the borders of the city and stop slaughter of cows in the State ahead of Bakrid on June 29, and that the anti-cow slaughter law be strictly implemented.
Speaking to the media, Aggarwal warned that the federation would lay siege to the DGP's office if he failed to comply.
He said that according to Section 540 of the GHMC Act, there was no permission to bring animals into the city. The State government used to set up check-posts 15 days before Bakrid every year but did not set up any this year, Aggarwal said. As a result thousands of the animals were being brought to the city and kept in various madrassas of the Old City, he claimed, and alleged that the State government was extending its support to a section of the society instead of implementing the laws in a unified manner.
He also alleged that the State government was ignoring the issue of the cow slaughter despite thousands of cows being slaughtered every year in the State.
Federation leaders including general secretary L Muralidhar Rao, Ranga Reddy district unit president Badi Gouru Naidu, Banoth Ganesh, Gaddam Kiran, Lakavath Sudhakar and others were present.
