Hyderabad | 1st July 2015
The 12-day Godavari Pushkaralu will begin on July 14 at the auspicious time between 6.26 am and 6.38 am at Dharmapuri in the Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Warangal and Khammam districts.
This was stated by Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy at a media conference at the Secretariat.
Government Advisor K V Ramana Chary and Chief Minister KCR will invite President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the mega event to be celebrated in a grand manner till July 25, Reddy stated.
The Minister expressed displeasure at the Centre for not releasing adequate funds for the pious event being conducted for the first time in Telangana. He also slammed the Opposition parties for making a hue and cry over the event instead of giving constructive suggestions for the smooth conduct of the festivities.
Elaborate arrangements have been made by spending adequate funds and involving all departments in the five districts, the minister said. Almost 105 pushkar ghats were getting ready, and officials were on the job of completing the patch works on the roads and toilets, he informed. Arrangements for drinking water, medical teams, better road connectivity and tight security with 18,000 policemen are all part of the preparations.
Officials have been asked to give wide publicity and use the Telangana Sanskrithika Sarathi to conduct cultural programs to highlight the festivities of the pushkaras. Noted saints and priests including Chinna Jeeyar Swamy and the Naga saints from the Himalayas are expected to turn up for the event to be attended by a large number of people from various places.
"We are expecting rains during the pushkarams, and if necessary will take help from the neighboring Maharashtra to get water," he added. (NSS)
