Bharatiya Janata Party's GHMC floor leader Bangari Prakash on Saturday complained of the deletion of thousands of names from the voters' list in the areas of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
In a memorandum submitted to GHMC Commissioner M T Krishna Babu, the BJP leader said that names of eligible voters were being deleted from the Voters' List in all the wards of the GHMC during the on-going work of Summary Revision.
"In some instances, all the names of the voters residing in various areas/basthis have been deleted, along with the Areas/Basthis (concerned) themselves. Most of the names were deleted in scores on the various groundless reasons," he complained.
Bangari Prakash alleged that in Ward No. 67 of Mehdipatnam, that he represents in the GHMC, around 12,000 to 14,000 names of eligible voters have been deleted.
He demanded a detailed enquiry into the deletion, and asked the GHMC Commissioner to ensure that the names of eligible voters are retained in the list. (INN)
