Bharatiya Janata Party Floor Leader Bangari Prakash demanded for the dissolution of the Standing Committee of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, on Thursday, as he claimed it was not addressing the problems of people.
The BJP Leader said that though the Standing Committee met 10 times, it has not solved a single problem so far.
Prakash pointed out that although the Mayor has powers to order the GHMC Commissioner to attend the Standing Committee meeting, she is not doing so - the Commissioner has attended only 2 meetings out of 10.
According to the BJP Leader, the members of Standing Committee are postponing the agenda by demanding a separate chambers and wasting time.
Prakash urged the government to come forward and dissolve the Standing Committee and convene a general body meeting twice a month to redress the problems of people in the city.
Meanwhile Telugu Desam Floor Leader Singireddy Srinivas Reddy stated that the Mayor has powers to solve the problems of members by allotting a separate chamber for the Standing Committee.
Reddy alleged that the Mayor was intentionally neglecting the demands of the Standing Committee members.
MIM Floor Leader Mirza Saleem Baig opposed Bangari Prakash's demand, and said that a constitutional amendment was needed for a dissolution of the Standing Committee.
