The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, on Friday, sealed a shopping mall for not obtaining an occupancy certificate.
According to Chief City Planner G V Raghu, the complex owner A V Krishnam Raju and others had obtained permission for the construction of a commercial building with two cellars plus five upper floors, at Kukatpally, on May 3, 2010. As per the bye-law No. 13 of the Municipal Corporation Building Bye-laws 1981, "no building shall be occupied until the occupancy certificate is issued by the local authority."
"However, in the present case, the building owner has let out the building to South India Shopping Mall, and the building was occupied without an occupancy certificate from the GHMC," said Raghu.
The CCP said that the building owner had applied for an occupancy certificate on September 22 this year, and that the application was rejected for a number of reasons.
"The road-widening portion for a 100-foot road was not left on ground, and was still kept in the builder's possession. Moreover, an electric transformer was erected in the road-widening portion. The cellar and sub-cellar have been constructed with setback deviation towards the 100-ft road, the setback of the building on the rear side was in deviation to the sanctioned plan, and the building was still incomplete in terms of bye-law No. 13," Raghu complained.
