On Thursday, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation demolished as many as 49 dilapidated buildings in different areas within its jurisdiction.
A majority of these dilapidated buildings were residential properties and most of them were tiled-roof houses. This action came close on the heels of a bout of inspection whereby the GHMC officials had identified 10 buildings as being unsafe.
Meanwhile, a joint inspection by the engineers and the town planning staff at the GHMC resulted in the identification of 31 more such buildings in all circles. (INN)
