Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi today said those whose names did not figure in the first phase of the lottery for free 2BHK "dignity" houses constructed for the underprivileged within the GHMC limits should not worry.
Vijayalakshmi, along with Uppal MLA Bheti Subhash Reddy and Deputy Mayor Srilatha Sobhan Reddy, handed over the patta certificates to beneficiaries for 500 houses at Sriram Nagar Colony in the Uppal constituency today.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that those who did not get houses in the first phase of the distribution need not worry as many more houses would be distributed in six phases - at the rate of 12,000 houses per phase.
"1 lakh houses will be built under the scheme in the GHMC limits, 69,000 of those houses are ready for distribution, and only 11,700 of them have been distributed in the first phase. The remaining 57,000 are yet to be distributed to the deserving poor soon," she said, and urged the people not to believe in false rumours.
She said that the second phase of the distribution would be held in the next 15 days.
