The TRS' candidate for the upcoming Huzurabad by-election, Gellu Srinivas Yadav, today called on party supremo and Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, to thank the latter for giving him the opportunity to contest for the post of MLA.
Yadav visited the Pragathi Bhavan, the CM's camp office, and presented a bouquet to KCR as a sign of his gratitude.
The CM responded by telling the young leader that the TRS would surely retain the seat.
The pink party has been campaigning heavily in the constituency to hold on to the MLA seat. In fact, the CM, who usually keeps his distance from by-election campaigns, will even
address a huge public meeting at Huzurabad on August 16 to launch the Dalit Bandhu program.
This by-election was necessitated after the Huzurabad MLA, former minister Etala Rajender,
resigned from his post following his
dismissal from the state Cabinet. Rajender also quit the TRS and went on to join the BJP.
Reports suggest that Rajender will reportedly contend in the election, too, in a bid to hold on to a seat that has been his for years. While the BJP and the TRS seem to have decided who to field for the seat, the Congress, however, is yet to decide on a suitable candidate.
Though the Election Commission has not announced the schedule for the election so far, the BJP and the TRS are already at each other's throats with each making attempts to establish the unsuitability of the other's candidate for the post.
