After taking action against former justice Chalapathi Rao, the Andhra Pradesh High Court, on Friday, suspended one more former judge in the cash-for-bail scam of mining baron and former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy.
The High Court has suspended former judge D Prabhakar Rao, who was employed at the State Election Commission as the secretary (Legal), suspecting that he was one of those who facilitated getting bail granted to Gali Janardhan Reddy.
On Thursday, Prabhakar Rao's services were recalled, and he was posted as judge of a Family Court cum III Additional district and Sessions judge, at Srikakulam. However, before he could take charge in his new posting, he was suspended.
While Chalapathi Rao was offered Rs. 5 crore for granting bail to Gali, Prabhakar was allegedly offered Rs. 10 crore. However, Pattabhi struck the deal along with Chalapathi Rao, who was his trusted friend.
In the confession to the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Chalapathi Rao said, "Pattabhi told me that that one Prabhakar Rao is offering Rs. 10 crore for the bail, and that he would be able to say something only after having a look at the files." (INN)
