A pantheon of Telugu politicians condoled Sridevi's sudden death.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed deep sorrow over the sudden demise of the actress. He said that Sridevi had captivated cinegoers with her beauty, and her dancing and acting skills, and had earned countless fans. It was unfortunate that the actress, who was still active in the film industry, died at a young age, and her death left a deep void in the Indian film industry, he said. He conveyed his condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said, "As a multi-lingual actress, Sridevi became a favourite heroine for people across the country, and especially for the Telugus. She remains a top actress of India with her unparalleled acting skills."
BJP leader and former union minister Bandaru Dattatreya also expressed deep grief on knowing about the untimely demise of the actress. "Her memorable performances will live in our hearts forever. I pray God to give strength to her family members. My heartfelt condolences to Sridevi's fans. May her soul rest in peace," he said.
Leader Of Opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and YSR Congress Party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy said that Sridevi's untimely death had left the entire nation in shock and grief. He called it "a loss to the Indian film industry and film lovers as well as generations of filmgoers of the country", his party's Twitter handle said.
