Telangana Praja Front President and noted balladeer Gaddar, on Sunday, alleged that former Maoist and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) politburo member Sambashivudu was murdered as part of the wider conspiracy to suppress the separate Telangana statehood agitation.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Hospital where Sambashivudu’s post-mortem was conducted, Gaddar demanded that the state government immediately arrest those who are responsible for the TRS leader’s murder and make their names public.
Soon after Gaddar made the controversial remarks, BC Welfare Minister Basvaraju Saraiah denied that the government was in any way connected to the murder.
Saraiah blamed the pro-Telangana leaders of trying to pin the blame of the murder on the government to infuse fresh lease of life into the separate statehood agitation.
The Minister also said that a high-level police team was already investigating the murder of Sambashivudu and expressed confidence that the killers would be apprehended soon.
The former Maoist was
chased and hacked to death by unidentified persons late on Saturday night while returning to Hyderabad from Nalgonda district after attending a 'Dhoom Dham' programme in support of a separate Telangana state.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Nalgonda district President Bandla Bhaskar called for Nalgonda Bandh on Monday. However, he made it clear that the bandh will not cause any obstruction to students who are writing their annual public examinations.
