4 persons on Tuesday surrendered before the Chotuppal police in connection with the murder of former Maoist and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) politburo member Sambashivudu which took place late on Saturday night.
The police identified the 4 men who surrendered as Shakeel, Feroz, Abu and Imran, hailing from Bhuvanagiri and the Old city of Hyderabad.
According to reports, these 4 men have confessed to their involvement in Sambhashivudu’s killing.
The police have shifted them from Chotuppal to Narayanapuram police station.
Earlier, the city police found a car, believed to have been used by the killers of Sambashivudu, from the backyard of a school in Chotuppal.
The car, a Maruti 800 bearing registration number AP 28 AG 3661, is registered in the name of one Sally George with the Rajendranagar RTA.
The former Maoist was chased and hacked to death with sickles and swords by 15 unidentified persons late on Saturday night while returning to Hyderabad from Nalgonda district after attending a 'Dhoom Dham' program in support of a separate Telangana state.
The post-mortem report of Gandhi Hospital doctors said that the former Maoist was stabbed 20 times with sharp weapons and died due to excessive blood loss.
According to reports, about 80 criminal cases were pending against Sambhasivudu, including his involvement in the Alipiri bomb blast case.
Police suspect that the attack was the work of the Naeem gang which has been known to have borne grudges against the slain since a long time.
