After Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa resigned from his post yesterday, the BJP has chosen Union Minister of Tourism and Culture G Kishan Reddy as one of the observers who will oversee the process of finalising a new CM for the state. Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan has also been appointed as an observed along with Reddy.
Speaking on the matter, Reddy said that he would be flying down to Bengaluru to speak with all the MLAs of the saffron party to decide on a future course of action. When asked about potential candidates being considered for the post of CM, the leader remain tightlipped, and simply stated that the MLAs of the state would be the ones to take that call.
The BJP leaders in the state had reportedly gathered for a meeting earlier this evening. It is being said that during the meeting, the two Union ministers interacted with the senior BJP leaders of Karnataka to come to a decision.
While there is still no clarity on the matter, many think that BJP leaders like Prahlad Joshi and former CM Sadananda Gowda are being considered for the post. However, there are also reports that the Brahmin, Panchamasali, Lingayat and Dalit communities are all demanding that the party's national leadership appoint a leader from their communities as the next CM.
