Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy today slammed Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for having "diluted" the quality of the higher education institutions in the state.
Pointing out that the universities in the region had been important seats of resistance during the Telangana agitation, Reddy said that the CM's irresponsible attitude towards bolstering them was tantamount to insulting the role played by the institutions in the statehood struggle.
He made these remarks while addressing a gathering at Hanamkonda, part of his ongoing election campaign for the BJP candidate for the upcoming MLC elections in the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda graduates' constituency, G Premander Reddy.
Speaking at the meeting, the minister alleged that the CM had also not done anything for the unemployed youth of the state.
"In the last seven years of TRS rule, nobody except the families of CM KCR and MIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi have prospered. Those who fought for the formation of Telangana have been entirely ignored. The graduates and the unemployed youth have also been deserted. Where the Centre had sanctioned a railway project for the state, the TRS could not even manage to allocate 160 acres of land for the project. As a result, the works for the same were stalled. Further, the state government has not paid its share of Rs 30 crore needed for the establishment of a super-speciality hospital in Warangal. It also dragged its feet over the implementation of the Centre's Ayushman Bharat scheme, just because it did not want to credit the BJP for the same. These are just a few of the many instances of KCR's careless ways of governing the state," he said.
"The BJP government at the Centre, however, has always tried to support the people of Telangana. It has restored the Ramagundam Fertiliser Corporation by spending Rs 6,000 crore. It will soon be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Contrary to the claims of the TRS regime, the Centre has been invested in the welfare of the people of the state," the BJP leader added.
He then warned the CM and his colleagues to refrain from talking ill of the PM and the BJP, saying that they did not have the right to do so after failing to work for the people themselves.
Reddy also urged the voters of the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda constituency to support the saffron party in the upcoming MLC elections, assuring them that the party would work to develop the three districts, and would fight for the rights of the graduates and the unemployed youth.
With the MLC elections just about a week away, the exchange of accusations between the political parties in the state is becoming increasingly unpleasant. While the TRS has been focused on
lambasting the BJP, the Congress and the BJP have not only been attacking the ruling party but also each other.
