Stating that Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy's remarks against TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy were not correct, MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said that Revanth Reddy had joined the Congress unconditionally, and that his version that AICC chief Rahul Gandhi's representatives had given him some assurances were not correct.
For the uninitiated, on Tuesday Revanth Reddy had expressed his unhappiness with the TPCC leadership saying that it was not utilising his services properly. He had further also said that his life goal was becoming Chief Minister, and that he had patience and age on his side.
Ponguleti said that Revanth Reddy had joined the party just months back, and needed to wait patiently and cooperate with the others in the party. His issue would be discussed in the party core committee meeting very soon, and it was not correct for him to speak against some leaders in an insulting manner.
"Where was Revanth Reddy during the Telangana movement? He was with Chandrababu Naidu, who fought to keep Andhra Pradesh united. What was the role of Revanth Reddy in the Telangana movement? One should not call himself a leader - the people need to recognise him as a leader. The leader has to do a yagna to get the blessings of the people," he said.
Saying that the Congress didn't come to power in 2014 due to a lack of coordination among its leaders even though the then UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi had accorded statehood to Telangana, he said that at least this time the party's leaders needed to work in a manner that motivated the party workers. New energy had come in among the party activists and the people with the party's bus yatra, and that should not be squandered, he said.
