Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday expressed anguish over the demise of former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral.
Paying tributes to the departed leader, the Chief Minister recalled the late Gujral's services not only as the Prime Minister of India, but also as union minister for finance, external affairs, communications and parliamentary affairs, information and broadcasting, works and housing, and water resources.
Kiran Kumar Reddy said Gujral was a veteran freedom fighter, an able administrator and Parliamentarian, senior politician and a socialist. He said that he was a great admirer of Urdu poetry and poets, and that he could also speak fluently in Urdu.
He recalled that Gujral had written books like "The Foreign Policies For India", and added that in his death, the nation has lost an intellectual leader and senior politician.
The Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members. (INN)
