Former Odisha Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang and his son Sishir Gamang have resigned from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Both leaders sent their respective resignation letters to BJP national president J P Nadda and asked him to accept their respective letters immediately.
The father-son duo, who joined the BJP in 2015 after quitting the Congress, announced their resignations from the primary membership of the party at a press conference at Bhubaneswar today.
The two are likely to join the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao soon.
Recently, Giridhar Gamang and Sishir Gamang called on KCR at Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderabad and reportedly expressed their intention to join the BRS.
According to sources, senior Gamang is likely to be appointed as the president of the Odisha unit of the BRS to lead the party in the 2024 elections, while Sishir Gamang is likely to contest the next elections on a BRS ticket.
