Former MLA and BJP senior leader Mandadi Satyanarayana Reddy, 87, passed away at his residence in Hanamkonda on Sunday
He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
Reddy, who was born in the remote village of Ippaguda in Station Ghanpur mandal of Jangaon district, had played a key role during the first and the second Telangana movements.
Mandadi was a worker of the Jan Sangh as well as of the BJP. He worked as the State vice-president for the BJP in united Andhra Pradesh for two terms.
When K Chandrashekar Rao floated the TRS to achieve a separate Telangana State in 2001, Reddy joined the party, and was elected as the MLA for the Hanamkonda constituency in 2004. However, he later moved back to the BJP.
BJP State unit president Bandi Sanjay, MLA Eatala Rajender, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, other BJP leaders and TRS leaders expressed grief over the demise of Reddy, and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family members.
